In Jula country, there are many kinds of craftspeople [Lit. "hand workers"]. Goldmiths or blacksmiths do metal work. They make hoes, knives and each and every kind of metal thing. There are carpenters [Lit. "wood scrapers"] too. They make house doors, tables, chairs and all wood things. Weavers transform thread into cloth. That [the work] of the "griots" is leather work. They make all shoes, sacks, leather belts, lanyards, coins and sheaths. Male "griots" do leather work. The females do mud-clay work. They make each and every kind of pot and jug, from water jugs to each and every kind of cooking pot. When lamps [Lit. "white people lamp"] hadn't yet come to Jula country, griot women would make little oil lamp pots. Oil would be put inside such little pots and a thread placed as a wick. In the past, in Jula towns, all townspeople would unite and help each other with house construction. But nowadays, house construction has also become some people's own distinct work. All such people study house construction. Their names are masons.
